Lybroan JamesPre-Calculus - Los AngelesI was inspired to teach at Thrive so I would have an opportunity to pay it forward. Organizations had programs like this for me when I was a child and they served me well and provided experiences that helped shape my future and provide access to environments that would otherwise not be available.
Bella TobinMultivariable Calculus and Calc 1 - MiamiWhen I teach my summer courses at Thrive, I look out at the students and I know that I am teaching future leaders. I am confident that these students have a strong career ahead of them and it is an honor to be a part of their journey. Whether its meeting a quiet student who finds their confidence, or challenging a strong student with abstract ideas and advanced computations, or helping a student see how problem solving will be useful in their career choice, every summer provides an incredible classroom experience with some of the most brilliant minds in the country.
Dr. Treya T AllenWriting - MiamiThe best part of teaching for Thrive is that it impacts and strengthens your own teaching practice. It provides you with connections between colleagues that also support and enhance your skills. You also learn a lot from the scholars. The time you spend with scholars is both amazing and instructional. While four or six weeks does not seem like a long time, you help to launch scholars into their fullest potential through scaffolding and support. You also learn about yourself during this process.
Zay DaleIntroduction to College Writing, College Writing - AmherstI started working as a faculty member for Thrive 4 years ago, and it has been my pleasure to continually maintain a mentorship like role with students from years past to present. Many of my former students, who are now upper division college students at some of the best universities in the nation, still reach out to me. It brings me much joy to hear that students not only found my Thrive classes to be highly intellectually stimulating, but they also note how beneficial such classes were now that they are in college courses. As such, I look forward to mentoring other scholars in the future and helping them with their aspirations.
