Grade — you must be enrolled as a junior in a high school in the U.S.: 0 th
Your unweighted, cumulative GPA must be 3.60 or higher: 0.0 +
Your annual household income must not exceed $125,000: $ 0 k

Who are Thrive Scholars?

Our Scholars come from all walks of life, but typically have the following characteristics.

Earn A’s in most or all of their classes and are highly ranked amongst their graduating class
Take the most challenging courses at their school, including AP, IB and dual enrollment courses
Demonstrate extracurricular leadership, family responsibility, and/or part-time work
Are interested in attending a highly-selective college
Come from low-income, limited-resource, and/or first-generation backgrounds

Thrive has given me the support to navigate the college process and connect with people who have helped shape my journey. I’m especially grateful to be part of a community that makes students feel supported and reminds us that we belong in spaces we once thought were out of reach.

As a first gen, low income student, I was worried about going through the college application process and transitioning to this next stage in my education on my own. However, my Thrive College Access Manager and my College Success Manager have been with me every step of the way … I love my Thrive family for believing in me and pushing me to do my best.

Being a first gen from the Bronx, my family has always supported me through my studies however they were unfamiliar with the college process and the steps I needed to take. Thrive provided me with not only counselors.. but also a community of people to share my progress with.

I knew… coming from a low-income, single parent household, there were many adjustments I would have to make. Thrive Scholars ensured I was academically prepared. That meant instead of focusing on mere survival in college, I could focus on embracing those opportunities I needed to flourish.

At Summer Academy, I was able to experience what daily life on a college campus feels like, and now I am confident in my ability to adjust to a new environment once I move away to college … Not only did I improve my social skills, but I regained my self-confidence. And for that I will forever be grateful for the love and support Thrive and my fellow Scholars have given me.

Being a Thrive Scholar means belonging to a community defined by resilience and drive. I am most excited to learn and grow alongside ambitious individuals whose lives are shaped not by the cards they were dealt, but by the vision and determination they carry forward.
